Single Copy Management

Dealer and bulk distribution management is a key to newspaper efficiency. Bulk draw corrections can be entered as permanent or event-driven criteria with notes to document changes for future audits.

Manage distribution, returns and collections with Internet – connected tablet, phone, Web browser application to load collection route sequence and download drop information such as single copy returns, payments and delivery notations straight to the Newzware Circulation database.

The optional Newzware Collector module is designed to eliminate collection errors and speed reporting for proper drop management. Payments are recorded and totaled to provide accurate reconciliation after the collection is complete. Receipts can be sent to store clients via secure email.

Remote News Editor - Thin Client

News Editor uses a standard web browser with no local program required. News Editor is fully featured and enables the same program to be used in the newsroom or remotely from any location with Internet access. User preferences are stored on the server, allowing journalists to use any available terminal. Remote users with available Internet connection have the same feature-set as the newsroom.

Version 6 uses advanced AJAX technologies to reduce communication overheads across the network. Typical broadband users will notice no difference between remote and newsroom response times.

A tree view displaying all newsroom desks across the enterprise is supported. User desktop settings can be extremely customized for maximum productivity, and these settings are held in the user’s login preference. News Editor styles integrate with Pongrass InDesign Plug-ins.

Pictures can be attached to the article, along with captions and notes with the click of a button. Uploads take place in the background, useful when available Internet connections are slow.

Management Console for On-line Collaboration

The introduction of the latest version of the Newspaper Database has allowed Newzware & Pongrass to integrate every aspect of pre-press production into one coherent database. Now with the latest release of Management Console, the entire pre-press operation, from advertising sales to page production can be monitored in real time.

Management Console is viewed from any standard web browser, which makes it easy to deploy over your existing corporate secure Internet connection. Password controls ensure sensitive reports are only available to authorized users.

Editorial Pagination

PEPL™ is the application that connects InDesign to the database. PEPL loads all the ads for an issue in a single operation. Ads can be dummied before they are produced, and on final production will automatically appear on the correct page, printable and fully previewed. Late ads and moved ads are handled automatically.

All elements to be used in the system are registered in the database. Extracted information such as Captions, Headline, Keywords and Category are applied to the database along with thumbnail and other preview data during the registration process. Story allocator allows browsed photos to be dragged and dropped on to pages.

Classified Pagination

Pongrass Classified Pagination is the most versatile pagination solution for classified ad sections on the market. With the introduction of Version 7, Pongrass adds a host of new features including native PDF support and double page spreads. Operating on Windows 10, the program supports Pongrass Classified Ad booking system as well as 3rd party ad booking systems via an open system interface or database connection.

Purposely built for Classified Pagination, it knows about house ads, straps, multi-column headings and display ad stacks. Its product design has been refined over the years to be able to lay out a typical classified section by itself with practically no operator intervention and can be set to square off pre-determined classifications.
